Sir Edmund Hilary - For being the first person to conquer Mount Everest


Peter Jackson - For making the Lord of the Rings Movies and more recently Kong Kong

Sir Charles Upham - For being awarded the Victoria Cross with bar for two seperate occasions of valour during World War 2.

Ernest Rutherford - The creator of modern atomic physics and forerunner of the nuclear age, one of the greatest scientists of the twentieth century.

Richard Pearce - For making the first powered flight, before the Wright Brothers, on March 31 1903

John Britten - Maker of the famous homebuit "Britten" motorcycle that won wide wide accolades for its stunning design and performance. What was most remarkable about this superbike was the fact it was made in his garage in Christchurch.

Air Chief Marshal Sir Keith park - Saviour of Brtain, famous for his part he playyed in the defence of Brtain during the Battle of Britain.
